Nutritionally, only a very tiny minority of dogs require a grain free diet. Many grain free diets simply replace the carbohydrates found in grains with those found in vegetables such as potatoes, peas, and sweet potatoes. This tends to make the food more expensive, whilst giving no nutritional advantage of a diet containing grains.
Our Paul O’ Grady’s No Nasties range is made with wholegrain wheat and wholegrain maize which supply energy from starch, a complex carbohydrate. These wholegrains also supply protein to help maintain muscle condition and fibre to help maintain gut health.
Paul O’Grady’s Hypoallergenic range is made with rice, also a grain which contains the complex carbohydrate starch to provide energy but is thought to be easier to digest, making it more suitable for those dogs with a sensitive digestion.
