The Foundation of a Healthy Guinea Pig Diet
As well as just guinea pig food, guinea pig hay is an important part of your furry friend’s diet. We recommend following our Excel Feeding Plan for guinea pigs, which consists of the following ingredients:
- High-quality feeding hay – Our Timothy hay for guinea pigs and Meadow hay are a great pick! 85%-90% of your guinea pig’s diet should be made up of good-quality (not bedding) hay.
- Safe leafy greens – Around a teacup size a day of guinea-pig safe leafy greens and vegetables per pig is sufficient.
- Tasty guinea pig treats – These healthy snacks are a great way to add enrichment and help you to build a bond with your guinea pig pal.
- Guinea pig nuggets – A handful of guinea pig nuggets goes a long way.
- Fresh water – Your guinea’s should always have access to fresh, clean water, all day, every day.
